   MashaAllah your blog has been very useful to me. Insha Allah i planning on an umrah towards the end of April ’12. I looked up a lot of info about the locations from your blog. Make sure you include a visit to the Dar al Madinah Museum…see the Madinah Ziyarah list for details…all who have visited recently have been very impressed, Masha’Allah.

   Salam alaikum sister, I am planning to go umrah next April backpacking style. Do you know how much would it cost for taxi to pay the taxi drivers to visit most, if not all the sites? Also, do you know of any really budget hotels where I could stay during my umrah there? I don’t need 5 star hotels, all I need is a roof, four walls, a toilet and some security to store my bag.

   Dear Brother Luqman,
   Insha’Allah your plans will be full of Barakah and your journey be filled with more than you could ever imagine.
   Trying to give you estimates of prices is difficult. Rates change due to the pilgrim seasons. Allahu ‘alum April should not be a peak time, although these past years almost all year round now sees big crowds. Taxis will try to get the most from you especially when they know you are not a local…and there are vaious ways you can do Ziyarah…with a group via bus, or individually in a taxi which if you are coming alone could be expensive if you are considering trying to go to so many places. A vague estimate may be SR200-300 for a three hour trip, approx SR50-60 in a bus…but please take this as being VAGUE. Cheaper hotels are available once you go out of the fancy CBD area…but Allahu ‘Alum if they start the major demolitions of the northern hotels then prices will surely increase due to the demand. But once again a vague price rage for the ‘most basic’ of hotels may be about SR100 out of season. Massive changes are happening which will reflect on prices so please understand what you ask is almost impossible to give answers. Keep making Du’a that Allah Ta’ala will make your journey easy

   Assalam alaikum,

   I along with my wife intend to perform umrah right after the Hajj season 2013 inshaAllah. Would you be so nice as to suggest a month in which there is least amount of rush (comparative to other months) both in Makkah and Medinah.

   Furthermore, can you recommend someone who can take us to see all places of ziyarah as i have a deep wish to see all historic places we read and hear about in the history of Islam.

   Looking forward to your reply. I will indeed be very grateful.

      Dear Brother Ahmed and family,
      Masha’Allah for your intention. May Allah Ta’ala open all doors for your Umrah, Ameen.
      I suggest you go to an authorized travel agent who deals with Umrah in your country and ask when are the Umrah visas open again after the Hajj season and then if you can manage book the moment the visas can be issued. This varies from country to country by a few weeks. But if you aim for the very beginning of the new visa season then the crowds are less. Having said that be prepared for crowds for most of the time now as the Saudis are increasing the numbers each year. Though maybe with the massive Mataf expansion taking the next three years or so then they may try to keep numbers down a little, Allahu ‘Alum.
      Insha’Allah once you know when you are coming be in touch again and I can then email you contacts for Ziyarah. In the meantime do study as much as you can about the main places and familiarize yourselves with layouts of the Haramain, and for your wife to especially look at these two posts…

    dear brother , most of the places you have listed above are either demolished or no one knows actual location , no Taxi Driver or any “Mualaam”..infact the people who are living there they do not know where are these places, specificaly to identify the locations after having alot of construction in madina is difficult. so please write only about those locations which are easily identificalbe, so that one shoud not waste his time, money in searchning these places.. and the most important for some identifed location is their athunticity.        Dear Brother Amjad,
       JazakumuLlahu khaira for your feedback, but I respectfully need to clarify some of your assertions. But first I will indulge you in a story. A close Saudi family, born and lived in Madinah for generations, live in a four story family complex on the outskirts of Madinah where one can overlook Haram and beyond to Jabal Uhud. The first time I shyly asked if I could see the view I commented how stunning it was that they could open a curtain and see Haram and Jabal Uhud in all it splendour. The reaction was one of shock, with the lady of the house saying, ‘No, that is not Jabal Uhud…that is just one of the other mountains!’ I have come across this same attitude many times. Many of the locals do not know the geography or history or locations/stories related to the Seerah. So, yes, many of the Saudi taxi drivers may not know…but there are countless others who do know of these locations. One can easily find such drivers.
       I have personally visited all the places I have written about. And yes, many no longer appear as they should…that is preserved and marked for the Ummah to learn about. Firstly because of developments and secondly because of the unfortunate attitudes of ‘authorities’ who have thought in their wisdom that so many places related to our glorious history should be demolished or hushed up. Take the case of cementing the opening of Ghar Uhud! Forget about the ‘bid’ah argument’…the mere desecration of one of Allah Ta’ala’s creation is treated in such a way, even now, draws tears. Plus the senseless boarding up of the small window that one could look into the dry B’ir Ghars…or the 24/7 policing of the Badr site so one is not even permitted to look over a wall!!! On and on one could list examples. And yes…visit Yanbu and see the amazing reconstruction of the house of ‘Lawrence of Arabia’…read history to see what he did to Muslims, and yet the place where he temporarily stayed has been given such prominence.
       And even if many of the sites are physically covered by modern buildings, or whatever, no authority can EVER erase the actually piece of ground that witnessed the various aspects of our Deen. Alhumdulillah for centuries of caring scholars…and mostly from outside the Kingdom, eg the Ottomans and from the Sub Continent, who have knowledge that has been passed down, and who continue to pass this down, Alhumdulillah for their LOVE of the Deen in keeping these places alive in hearts.
       I have indicated most of the places I have written about on google maps within the post. And for those who have asked for more specific details I have provided that…either on the blog, or by email…or by actually accompanying many over the years on Ziyarah. Others who come for Hajj or Umrah requesting a guide then numbers are given to them.
       As for wasting time and money…when the intention is correct as to why one is trying to find a place or do anything then there is no such thing as waste.
       May Allah Ta’ala shower you and yours with Barakah and Noor, Ameen.
       And may Allah Ta’ala forgive me of any wrong or misleading comments.

    Most of the places in Madina tell the stories of Rasulullah and Sahaba. Whether demolished or not the locations are in the books and in the hearts of Muslims.
    Ottomans gave a great favor to the Umma by preserving some of these sites. Despite the efforts of some to make these sites disappear, the sites are not going away, but these people are wasting their time, money and effort on unattainable goals.
    So I applaud the SISTER responsible for the site Almiskeenah, for her fruitful effort that is appreciated by Muslims the world over.
    Your claims about people living in Madina not knowing the sites are wishful thinking rather than reflecting informed opinion.
    I would urge you to put some effort in learning before speaking, this is the advice of our Rasul in SAHIH Hadith.

    Jazak ALLAH khair …my sister and my brother Nasser,
    first let me admit ..yes,,i have not gone through this site ..Yes ..i agree ” put some effort in learning before speaking”.. i admit my comments was just a quick reaction after lukin at ziyarah places list… reason is simple, they way all places are listed at a first glance it look like all these places are in place ( in from of mosques or so )as they were 1400 years back, i did not see any comment in front of any place that whether it still exists or its been demolished, or form is been changed etc. i can give you numbers of examples from your above list even ,,places which does not exists any more, converted to roads, or buildings, parks, offices or cemented etc. .. .. anyhow jazak allah for your great work, i will go through the site in sha allah and surely will come back to you for any clarification or more details or may be with some arguments ..
    and yes my dear brother nasser about “Your claims about people living in Madina not knowing the sites are wishful thinking rather than reflecting informed opinion i must admit that i am very good in ” Wishful thinking” although i have been living in middle east from the last 10 years and have spent years in makkah, madina, yemen, Syria, Egypt, Jordan visiting holy places , digging history Al Ham Du lillah and recently has started working on same project on which our sister is already have worked alot… sister: in sha allah i will get back to you once i am done with my research and surely would share my work with you and to umma through your page ..in sha allah

    its an outclass work, speech less,,,Masha Allah, ..its all Allah ” Rehmat” that he is chosen you to do this great job…may Allah Shower his blessing on you and who ever supported you , helped you in getting all this stuff…..
    sister could you produce a single Google Map covering all locations? i mean the final one which should contain all in one, if its already there could you please share it.
    and one more thing ,,i do not know where are you from, as i believe we Pakistani/Indian/Bangladeshi people really need to have all this stuff in URDU,like its almost 40 % of umma is in these areas and we do not find any Urdu book/site covering all these information so is there any plan to lunch Urdu website?
    latter on one can easily get the stuff and may be try to share stuff in newspapers, magazines, books so that more n more people can get to know Islamic land marks?

    all your kind words are greatly appreciated, JazakumuLLahu khaira. Sadly I can not translate to Urdu as I am an English speaker
    The ting with trying to add all the locations on one map means it becomes indistinct…as the original one linked to in the comment above yours. But what I can do Insha’Allah is create this map again as the blog now accommodates larger sized photos so it may be clearer…but this will cover the central area of Madinah. In the past we have made huge hard copies of the greater Madinah area, but this is not an option any longer. Insha’Allah I have added your request to my ‘to do list’ so look out for a post with maps in the not too distant future. Du’a needed

    jazakallahkhair sister, appreciate you response, but wondering why do you need to go for hard copy of map or map in photo format..you could mark all locations on Google earth with comments and share the GE link, one could keep on scrolling to find the locations throughout Saudi Arabia…
    i shall look for an Urdu Translator then…:(
    would request you in this case to allow me to translate your virtual tours in Urdu , i mean only the locations and historical part of the blog, .. so that at least people could use that to figure out and visit the historical places…

    the hard copies are like a poster…beautiful on the wall…I love looking at the ones we have…so I was giving them as Hadiyah. Will look at GE when a few moments arise…have an exam these days…but when I did check it there are thousands of locations marked…Insha’Allah maybe posting on the blog as well as GE…will see.
    Yes you can translate but please link back to the page you have translated. A big job! May Allah Ta’ala give you tawfiq. There are books in the shops here in Urdu with the places but not the location maps. Not sure what is the best way to go about this?
