Sunnah Reaction – Remedy for mockery of Islam and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Surah 3:186  “Ye shall certainly be tried and tested in your possessions and in your personal selves; and ye shall certainly Hear much that will grieve you, from those who received the Book before you and from those who worship many gods. But if ye persevere patiently, and guard against evil,-then that will be a determining factor in all affairs.”

The world is full of people critical towards muslims and Islam.  Most of these anti islamic sentiments especially  facebook pages, movies and attacks  are there to get an ugly reaction from us. Let there be a slow day in the media and lo and behold there will be some anti islamic article to liven things up a bit. As Nouman Ali Khan said in the video above. We play right into this trap. We become emotional puppets.   I took part in a few debates on some  news sites. I told myself I will try my best not get involved in such discussions as it is very unproductive and I rather spend my time spreading goodness instead of fighting these anti islamic troll wars. Be a productive muslim.

We must show self restraint and never promote hate speech facebook pages or movies , just report them or even better ignore them.  Even saying close a hate speech page or forwarding emails about hate speech media  is indirectly promoting it and giving them unnecessary attention they are craving.  I can’t imagine putting a page on my profile or even forwarding an email that has derogatory words about my Lord and prophet (SAW) even if it has the word STOP before it. So disheartening to see on muslim profiles –  Stop “swear word and something islamic”. You are marketing these pages for them, free of charge. The world would have never heard of these movies, cartoons or pages if we didn’t react to them in such a way. It would have just disappeared in oblivion. Now more people will want to go and see these things to see what the fuss is all about.

Remedy for the mockery of Islam and Prophet Muhammad(SAW)

Surah 41: 34 “Goodness and evil can never be equal. Repel evil with what is better (or best). Then see: the one between whom and you there was enmity has become a bosom friend.”

If someone says harsh things about you and your beliefs, don’t swear them and stoop to their level.  Show them the beauty of your deen and you are better than that. Be Patient, Be stern but don’t be insulting.

Most people act the way they do because they do not understand Islam. Start Dawah work. Dawah can be easily done.

1. Start making Dawah to your neighbours and people around your home and your close circle of people around you.

2. Introduce Islam to your work colleagues.

3.  Learn about Islam yourself so you can be well prepared.

4. If someone says something to you anti islamic. Be patient and calm. “Do not become angry”

Narrated Abu Huraira, r.a. A man said to the Prophet Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, “Advise me!” The Prophet said, “Do not become angry.” The man asked (the same) again and again, and the Prophet said in each case, “Do not become angry .” Bukhari 8.137 see Good Deed 60 – Manage your anger

5. Choose your battles, if you see it is going to end up more harmful to you, rather walk away.If you feel there is an opportunity to educate and make dawah, in a beautiful way , go ahead  –  Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching;( surah16:125)

6. Live the Sunnah – follow the sunnah, practise the sunnah and lead by example.

7. If you want to protest, remember to protest in a peaceful way but remember to first fulfil your obligations like your salaah on time etc while protesting.

see – Good Deed 147 – Make Dawah for more dawah ideas

How Prophet (SAW) reacted when he was mocked?

Remember how the Prophet Muhammad(SAW) reacted during his hardships in Taif. Reflect deeply  upon the Prophet’s supplication in Taif. This is the dua he recited with shoes full of blood, wounds all over his body and after having been insulted, ridiculed and abused by the people of Taif to whom he had taken recourse seeking a place of refuge. Moreover, this occurs after three years of suffering a boycott at the hands of the Quraysh as a result of which Muslims were reduced to eating grass and leaves off of trees. Also after he had lost his 2 greatest supporters Khadija(RA) and Abu Talib his uncle.
The Prophet (s) as he walks out of Taif:

spacer

O Allah! I complain to You of my weakness, my scarcity of resources and the humiliation I have been subjected to by the people. O Most Merciful of those who are merciful. O Lord of the weak and my Lord too. To whom have you entrusted me? To a distant person who receives me with hostility? Or to an enemy to whom you have granted authority over my affair? So long as You are not angry with me, I do not care. Your favor is of a more expansive relief to me. I seek refuge in the light of Your Face by which all darkness is dispelled and every affair of this world and the next is set right, lest Your anger or Your displeasure descends upon me. I desire Your pleasure and satisfaction until You are pleased. There is no power and no might except by You.”

If those who claim to love the Prophet (s) so much that they are willing to infringe upon prophetic conduct with their blind rage and fury would reflect upon this prayer, it would be a guiding light for them and a clear instruction as to how a Muslim should respond to our current situation. It is also the only salve by which troubled hearts and souls will find peace. (Dua of Taif)

May we all keep this beautiful dua in mind at all times, oh how our beloved Nabi(SAW) brought deen right onto our homes, it has reached to the four corners of the world and Inshallah this beatiful deen will continue to grow.
