Data Masking: Ways to Keep Prying Eyes Off your Sensitive Data

Andrew Notarian, DBA and Database Developer Leidos

We'll talk about different use cases where data masking is needed and the difference between dynamic and static data masking. We will also cover different methods and approaches to masking. There will be a demo of the new dynamic data masking features of SQL Server 2016, and a quick demo of a commercial product that can be used to make static data masking easier.

About Andrew:
Andrew Notarian is a DBA and Database Developer for Leidos. He has worked with SQL Server since 1998. He recently setup an off-site development environment for a government project where all sensitive data was masked.

Regular Meeting Details

PASSDC meets the second Thursday of each month at the Microsoft office in Chevy Chase. Meetings begin at 6:30pm, and typically last around two hours.
