BDR-G12 Update 2012-August

An update is now available for the BDR-G12 server agent.

We have observed an issue on some servers wherein the “ShadowProtectSvc” service enters a hung state and then goes into a disabled state. We have found a fix for the condition and have released an update for this.

This update will be automatically received by your BDR-G12 server agents that have Automatic Updates enabled. It is also available for download through the Zenith Ordering Portal under the BDR-G12 Update link, if Automatic Updates are disabled. This will not require a reboot of the BDR-G12 hardware or the server running the agent. There will be no break in service and no reseeding of the base image will be necessary.

BDR-G12 Update 2012-July

The BDR-G12 is receiving its first software upgrade. The upgrade released July 12th will happen automatically if the Update Manager in Support is left at its default setting. There will be no break in service or backups while the upgrade occurs as there is no need to reboot the BDR. Most features are enabled by default with the exception of Secondary Replication, Multi-bandwidth Configuration, and Executive Summary Reports. Each of these features need to be enabled or configured prior to use. The advanced features of Secondary Replication and Multi-bandwidth Configuration affect other elements of the BDR so additional training is provided on Zenith Cloud Academy (ZCA) for these new additions. See your account manager for access.

The new software features in this release include:
1.Secondary Replication enables replicated data from one BDR to be replicated to another BDR. Video tutorial on ZCA
2.Multi-bandwidth Configuration enables varying bandwidths for replication to be used based on business hours (less bandwidth) and non-business hours (more bandwidth). Video tutorial
3.Storage Explorer enables partners to view the amount (GB) and percentage of space that is being consumed by backup and replicated data.
4.Express Alert Configuration enables a single email address to be applied to all alerts at once during the SMTP server setup of the BDR.
5.Low Disk Space enables partners to set a threshold to notify them once the BDR has reached the specified percentage. For example, 85% full.
6.Executive Summary Report enables the creation of a short, five-page report displaying a summary of the backups and replication for the previous month.
7.Executive Report Tool enables partners to manually generate reports and view reports.
8.Executive Report Configuration enables sections to be enabled or disabled in the Executive report. Both reports, Executive and Executive Summary, can be emailed with a PDF or ZIP attachment.
9. Third party integration tools enables RMM vendors to integrate their agents with the BDR-G12.
10.Centralized Backup Dashboard Cleanup enables the deletion of orphaned reporting data from BDRs that have been removed or changed.
11.BDR Reset tool enables partners to rapidly perform a factory reset of their BDR-G12 for repurposing to another end client.
12.Logo upload enables partners to provide a logo that will be used on reports and the Configuration Panel.
