The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. Established in 1996 during the Web’s infancy, The Webbys is presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, which is comprised of over 1,000 leading Web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries, and creative celebrities.
In each of the 100+ categories, there are two chances to win a Webby Award. The Academy vote will choose a Winner in each category based on judges’ review and analysis of the Nominees. These entries will receive a Webby Award. Additionally, the online community, through a public vote, will choose a Winner in each category. These entries receive a Webby People’s Voice Award.
The Academy will select the five (5) best entries in each category based on review and analysis using specific judging criteria. After being audited by our vote tabulation consultants, these five selections are then recognized as Webby Nominees.
As a result of the high quantity and quality of entrants, The Webby Awards honors additional outstanding entries alongside our Nominees and Winners as Official Honorees. Being selected as an Official Honoree means an entry has been selected as one of the best on the Web as part of the Webby judging process. Less than 15% of entries in the Webby Awards are deemed Official Honorees. With thousands of entries in the Webby Awards each year, being selected as an Official Honoree is a notable achievement. There may be multiple entries (or no entries) in each category designated as an Official Honoree.
Webby Award Winners and Webby People’s Voice Award Winners will receive a beautiful hand-casted Webby Statuette, the symbol of Web excellence, and may purchase duplicate statuettes for clients, colleagues, or other team members involved in the entry. Nominees and Official Honorees may purchase custom framed certificates to commemorate their honor. Please email Denise@webbyawards.com for more information.
