Jean-Claude Biver: A Year in the Driver’s Seat at TAG Heuer
spacer

It’s been quite a year at TAG Heuer. Hard to believe that it was almost exactly 12 months ago that the company called a late-year press conference to announce that industry veteran Jean-Claude Biver would lead its new management team into 2015 and beyond. There was talk of Smartwatches. There was talk of a distinctive new design language. There was talk of a new price positioning. And 12 months later we can now see that for all this talk, there has been a flurry of action and results delivered.
We wanted to …

Hands-on: Heuer Carrera Calibre 7 Gold Glassbox
spacer

If you like the look of the recently released Carrera Calibre 18 Telemeter, but were hoping for something a little more….well, Gold, then this is the watch for you- the Heuer Carrera Calibre 7 Glassbox.
Over the past decade or so we’ve been lucky to see 1-2 “Heuer” branded models per year, whereas this year already we’ve had three, with a potential fourth on the way. Good news for those who love the Heuer heritage, and an important contrast to the modern, bold watches such as the Carrera Heuer-01.
Like the Calibre …

What Jack Did Next
spacer

On the surface, the story of Jack Heuer’s career is quite straight forward. From the time that he took over the running of his family business in 1962, Jack Heuer led a wave of innovation at Heuer- firstly through mechanical movements and later as a pioneer in electronics. Then the Swiss watch crisis crashed over Heuer, Jack Heuer sold the company and left the industry, before returning to what was now TAG Heuer in 2001 as the Honorary Chairman.
While this outline is accurate enough, it neglects the deeper story of …

Ultimate Guide to the Heuer Silverstone
spacer

When it comes to classic 1970s design, few watches are better examples of that periods’ look than the Heuer Silverstone. Launched in 1974, the Silverstone was available with a choice of three dial colours- Red, “Fume” and Blue.
The Silverstone was launched as the replacement for the Heuer Monaco, which today may be an icon of the TAG Heuer range, but by the mid-1970s, had proved to be a clear commercial failure. Heuer didn’t want to lose the trademark square case of the Monaco, and so softened the design, looked up …

In Depth Review- TAG Heuer Aquaracer 300m Ceramic Calibre 16 Chronograph
spacer

It’s already been a busy 12 months for new Aquaracer models, with TAG Heuer launching a new Aquaracer 300m series including a family of 3-hand watches and chronographs. And now there is another choice to add to the mix- the Aquaracer 300m Calibre 16 Ceramic Bezel. This new model effectively starts with the steel bezel 300m Chronograph, updates the dial design and hands and finishes off the look with a ceramic rather than brushed steel bezel. These might sound like small changes, but it does give the watch a very …

This year has been the year of the GMT for TAG Heuer, with Link, Carrera and Formula 1 GMT models launched. While each of these are regular production models, there is a fourth GMT watch new to the collection- the TAG Heuer Aquaracer 500m Calibre 7 GMT (Ref. WAK211A).
Based on the same 41mm stainless steel case as the Calibre 5 Aquaracer 500m, the new Calibre 7 is effectively a GMT version of Ref. WAK2110 with a Blue GMT hand and a revised ceramic bezel.

TAG Heuer Aquaracer 72 Digital Smartwatch
spacer

TAG Heuer has teamed up with Oracle to develop a special edition of the Aquaracer 72 for the crew of Oracle Team USA in the 2013 America’s Cup. The Smartwatch is based on the design of the Aquaracer Calibre 72 that we’ve shown you recently, but is engineered solely for use by the team.
There is some clever technology in the watch that wirelessly provides live data to the crew during the race, and while the application of this innovation outside high-end sport is limited, the watch does bring together TAG …
