Workshops

Descriptions of the NSF Interactive Web-Based Workshops (IWBWs)

Each IWBW will consist of a

•    15-minute initial local activity,
•    90-minute virtual interactive workshop,
•    15-minute concluding activity.

The initial local activities will include:

•    signing up participants,
•    reading sample materials for the workshop.

The workshop session will consist of an introduction followed by a sequence of interactive activities dealing with several aspects of the workshop focus.  The structure of the activities is designed to engage the participants in a collaborative learning process where they will:

•    recall their current understanding,
•    share this with one or two other participants
•    participate in a brief local discussion.

Following these local discussions, selected sites will be asked to share some ideas with the entire virtual group. Subsequent to these reports, the workshop leaders will share their ideas and insights with the group. The goals of each of the five IWBWs are provided below.

Concluding local activities will include a local discussion on a topic related to the workshop focus.
