Billie Jo Hazelwood, 82, of Kingston, went to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, March 17, while surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Hazelwood; parents Osa and Luther Guffey of Kingston; and special friends Betty Ruffner, Irene Griffin, and Eva Kennedy. She is survived by her son John W. Hazelwood and wife Debbie of Harriman; daughters Judy Hazelwood of Kingston and Joy Brewer and husband Oliver of Nashville; grandchildren Jennifer Kennedy and husband Bill of Kingston; Wendy Tinker and husband Dion of Coalfield; Heather Lawson and husband Doug of Harriman; Justin Hazelwood and wife Lisa of Rockwood; great grandchildren Lucas and Dylan Brown of Knoxville; Morgan Wolfenbarger of Coalfield; Keegan and Caleb Kennedy of Kingston; Keaton Jones and Carly Lawson of Harriman; sisters Barbara Hunter of Harriman; Peggy Carter of Michigan; Patricia Guffey and husband Chuck Hightower of Columbia; and Brenda Bredwell and husband Jimmy of Kingston; a host of nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Mary Herrell and Edith Hazelwood and brother-in-law Roy Lawson, all of Kingston.

She was a familiar face in Kingston having helped to establish the first library at Cherokee Elementary School; worked many years at a Kingston laundromat; and was always at her grandchildren's clogging events, and softball, baseball, football, and basketball games. She was called Nanny by most everyone.

Funeral 8pm Wednesday March 20, 2013 in the Kyker Chapel with Pastor Kyle Beverly officiating. Burial 11am Thursday at Hazelwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8pm Wednesday at the Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston.
