Sherman Elementary School will be holding Kindergarten pre-registration for the 2016-2017 school year on Monday, January 25 from 4:00-6:30 pm at the elementary school office. If you cannot make it to pre-registration on January 25, you are welcome to come from 8:00 am-3:00 pm that same week. It is extremely important in our planning for the next school year to have an accurate count of kindergarten students.
If you live in the Williamsville School District and have a child (or children) who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2016, please plan on registering your child. If at all possible, please bring the following items with you:
In addition, a Kindergarten Orientation Night for incoming Kindergarten students and their parents will be held in August before the first day of school. The August meeting will be an informational meeting for parents and a time for new kindergartners to explore their kindergarten classroom.
Come to a Paint Party on February 21 hosted by the WHS After Prom. It will be in the WHS cafeteria from 1:00-3:00pm. Choose from two picture options. The cost is $40 per person and includes all materials and snacks. Space is limited to 50 so call Michelle Buscher to reserve your spot. Details are outlined on the attached flyer.
Come out and support the Williamsville Sports Boosters as they help the Williamsville Athletic Department continue to be one of the primer athletic departments in Illinois. For the 2015-2016 school year alone, the sports boosters are slated to give over $65,000 back to the athletic department.
The annual dinner dance will once again be held at Northfield Center. One of Springfield's favorite bands, Shenanigans, will be providing the entertainment!
Everyone attending will have their name put in the barrel for the cash prizes. The Grand Prize will be $2,000 and that winner will be drawn at the beginning of the night, but not revealed until later in the evening. There will be a total of $3,250 given away in cash prizes!
Ticket prices went up $5 to help cover the cost of the band, but if you arrange a table of 8 the price is the same as the individual ticket price last year. Pricing is as follows:
Individual - $70
Couple - $135 ($5 discount)
Table of 8 - $520 ($130/couple or $65/person)
Deadline to register is February 29. Please contact Debbie Price at 414-1330 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for reservations or if you have questions.

WILLIAMSVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT TAX LEVY
Public school finance is often viewed as a complicated process. This is an attempt to explain the levying process in order to give you a better grasp of school finance practices. The Williamsville School District must post a notice in today’s paper regarding the tax levy. This is a legal notice required by the Illinois State Board of Education. Because of its format, the levy notice is very misleading. It is imperative that taxpayers understand that the district is not raising taxes by 18%. The levy is just requesting the school’s share of the tax dollars available in new property growth and CPI applied to existing property under the tax cap. A tax levy is not what the district actually receives. In reality, the tax rate applied by the school district will decline under the tax cap as the value of property increases. Here is a brief explanation of the budget and levy cycle.
