Well it’s that time of the week again, and we’re back with more exciting posts, tutorials, and resources from in and around the WordPress community. It seems our lovely community has been hitting the keys pretty hard, because we’ve got plenty to share.

Check out the full collection just after the jump.

First up, as always, are the blog posts; and boy are they worth a read this week:

  • WPLift ran through a solid list of eCommerce and Shopping Cart plugins for WordPress.
  • Ben Gillbanks, of ProThemeDesign, was interviewed by Heart Internet.
  • BP Tricks talked about using the right BuddyPress tools for the job.
  • DevPress are looking for suggestions on their next theme. They also recently talked about their philosophy on WordPress Themes. Patrick Daly also shared what they’ve learned over the last year.
  • Yoast posted about why you should archive by topic, and not by date for SEO purposes.
  • Andrea Rennick was recently interviewed as well, by Web Central Station.
  • WPBeginner posted their thoughts on Livefyre, a new commenting system for WordPress they’ve switched to.
  • Adii wrote a very interesting article on premium plugins, or rather the lack of them when compared to themes and how successful they’d been. It was a follow-up to the day before where he discussed WordPress and SaaS (software as a service).
  • Matt Mullenweg shared an image of his (ad-hoc) setup for an Automattic Townhall.
  • WPEngineer wrote an article on internationalization and the difference between __(), _e(), _x(), and _ex().
  • Gautam Gupta visited the Googleplex as part of his Google Code-In achievement!

Second are the ever-popular tutorials:

  • WPBeginner walked us through the process of how you can go about adding an admin user to the WordPress database through MySQL. It’s not as scary as it sounds!
  • Brad Williams showed us how to add a link to the Network Admin sites list using a filter.
  • WPLift talked about how you can limit clients access within WordPress.
  • WPEngineer posted the code explaining how you can remove comments from WordPress completely using a plugin.
  • Jason Schuller walked through how to display an admin notice for required theme plugins on his new and buzzing tutorials site, theme.it.
  • DevPress posted a custom background fix for theme developers when using the add_custom_background() function in WordPress. They also show how to remove menu pages from the admin, and offer a starting point on how to implement install and upgrade functions for plugins and themes. They been busy!
  • Bill Erickson shared how he uses a filter to add “Blog” to the Genesis Breadcrumb trail.
  • Theme.it author Sawyer Hollenshead took an in-depth look at the Dashboard Widgets API. Rich Staats also posted a quick-tip on how you can add screencasts to the widgets for theme.it.
  • Michael Martin, of ProBlogDesign, did a nifty tutorial on how to load your next posts with AJAX.
  • Coen Jacobs posted how to make file upload size tweaks for Gravity Forms.
  • Smashing Magazine shared part 2 of how to build a media site on WordPress, in which they cover working with Hierarchical, Non-Hierarchical, and Custom Taxonomy Templates.

Lastly you’ll find a small collection of resources:

  • Alex Mills, or Viper007Bond as you might know him, posted a WordPress Checker bookmarklet you can drop into your toolbar so you can see if that favourite site of yours runs WordPress or not (of course, you don’t need that for WPCandy!).
  • Austin Passy announced his YouTube White Label shortcode plugin for WordPress.
  • Deluxe Blog Tips created a Meta Box script for WordPress that’ll help you easily implement multiple meta boxes within the WordPress “add new” screen.
  • Yoast shared some code snippets for Custom Post Types you might find handy.
  • Alex King posted a tip on detecting lightboxed pages in the WordPress Admin.

That brings us to the end of this edition of WordPress Community Links. If we missed something or you have a link you’d like to share, send it our way and we’ll see about featuring it next week.
