Meet Carla and Sasha Capone, the mother-daughter duo behind a new online boutique, Beach Wahine. Launched in June, the store features local designers who share the Capones’ love for the beach lifestyle. “It’s a dream come true,” says owner Carla Capone. “My daughter and I are incredibly close, and we love doing things together, so I’m happy we figured out something that we both love.” From Tiare Hawaii’s breezy, lightweight clothing to Stoney Seas’ jewelry, the store offers everything a fashionista might want to wear for a glamorously comfy day at the beach.

Sasha manages the website and social media, and even though her background’s in psychology and criminology, it’s the Capone’s shared passion for fashion that won out. Together, the two are always looking out for new, innovative designers in the local couture scene. “We want to cater to local designers and put them out there,” Sasha says. “Our online boutique can reach a broader audience.”

Although they’ve only just started, the Capones already have plans to design their own line of beachwear, surely giving plenty of opportunities for people to mistake mothers and daughters as sisters.
