Camera Critters-Benji Returns to The Pond

spacer My old friend Benji the domestic goose made his first appearance on the pond Friday. Only part of the pond is open, but the Canada geese are sparing for breeding territory and Benji has been alone all winter. He picked this pair of Canada geese to hang out with and is also displaying the same behavior that the Canada geese do. Honking is the first step. Then head down , extended neck is the next warning. Then the male will attack and chase the interloper off. So nice to see Benji in time for Camera Critters and for my own Nature Notes meme.

Thank you Michelle. I am so glad to see him back again! Isn’t the human condition odd, how one can miss a goose in cyber space. Benji looks well and strong and is not showing his age at all. You must be happy to have him back again.

Arija…I think after being alone for months that the old Benji is so thrilled to have company that he isn’t feeling his arthritis. I’m glad that he has a chance to be part of a flock again…

Aww… it is great to see Benji in the video. I have yet to see any Canadian Geese here at all. But considering there has been no ice melt whatsoever, I imagine that could be the reason.
    Great video, Michelle!

Canada geese? You have them already? Haven’t seen any yet, here in Montreal. Keep looking at the sky for their return. Isn’t it exciting???
Love your little Benji. And your video.

Wendy..These Canada geese may be some of the resident geese who don’t migrate and just stay….
