We urge you to book at an AMS-contracted hotel since revenue from sleeping rooms helps offset other meeting costs and is passed down to meeting attendees in keeping registration rates to a minimum. Make your reservations early as space is limited. Be sure to indicate that you are with the American Meteorological Society when making reservations to receive AMS special rates. If you need to cancel, please do so promptly to allow others to take your spot and to help AMS avoid penalty fees that might be incurred.
Austin's 2013 government per diem rate has been set (posted 9/20/12. See www.gsa.gov). The rate will remain at the 2012 rate of $108 (single occupancy). A portion of our block at all hotels will be available at the prevailing government per diem rate.
Reservations by debit card are not recommended as the hotel will enact a hold on account funds to ensure available funding upon check-out. Cancellations made within 72 hours of arrival will forfeit the one night's room and tax deposit.
At this late date, the grand majority of our AMS-blocked rooms have been booked. A small block has opened at the RESIDENCE INN very close to the Convention Center. For reservations, phone 1-800-331-3131 and ask for the AMS rate of $137. (All rooms are 1 Queen-sized bed only).
Suggestions for outside-the-block reservations include the Holiday Inn Town Lake (1-800-HOLIDAY), the Hyatt Regency Austin (512-477-1234), or Extended Stay Hotel (512-457-9994).
We do expect some hotel cancellations to come in after 12/17. We encourage you to directly call the AMS-contracted hotel of your choice after that date to see if you can fit into a cancelled reservation room.
