In 1919, two married Russian immigrants, Morris and Goldie Mallove, opened their first jewelry store in a tiny shop on 111 Bank St in New London, CT. By 1930, business allowed them to expand to a larger shop at 48 State Street. The couple finally moved and stayed at the well-known location, 74 State Street, in 1942. As the business changed into the hands of Morris and Goldie’s son, Harvey, and then the hands of Harvey’s son, Jim, it has continued to be a jewelry destination for generations of local customers.
The Mallove name has been synonymous with quality and customer service throughout its evolution, which has proudly taken the store to its current location at Boston Post Road in Waterford and to its satellite store at 1 Cottrell Street in Mystic, CT.
