Studio FAQ
What is the Research-Writing Studio?

The Research-Writing Studio is both a place and a service that offers support for your academic work in research and writing. You actually may be familiar with us from our former names, Research-Consultation and the Writing Center.  The Research-Writing Studio is proud to be a Learning Commons partner.

Why would I use the Research-Writing Studio?

Do you write and/or research? Why not research and write it in a vibrant, collaborative work space staffed with assistants who can help you when you get stuck? (That was a rhetorical question. You should.)

How do I use the Studio?

Just show up, find a work area, and get cracking on a project. An assistant will check in with you periodically to answer questions as they arise while you work. There are no appointments and you don't have to sign up!

You can also use the Studio online, as all our great services are also available virtually.

Where is the Studio?

Haggard Hall, adjacent to the Student Technology Center.

When is the Studio open?

You can work in the Studio during all hours the library is open. Assistants are on site 9am-9pm Mon-Thursday, 9am-5pm Friday, and 12-9pm Sunday. Check here for any special holiday or finals week scheduling.

How can I contact the Studio?

If you're not finding on our website the information you're looking for, you can email us at rws@wwu.edu or call at 360-650-3219.

Wait, what happened to the Writing Center and Research Consultation, again?

We merged! We found that the academic literacies of research and writing were so intertwined that it made sense to combine the services.

Does the Research-Writing Studio support faculty and graduate students?

Of course we do! Check out our pages for graduate students and faculty by clicking on the menu. Graduate students and faculty looking for additional resources and support for your teaching of writing can contact our friends in Writing Instruction Support.

Can I get a job in the Studio as an assistant?

We accept applications in the Spring. Let us know that you’re interested and we’ll send you an email when we start our hiring process.
