Submissions

spacer We need your help to make Nature Nurtured a valuable resource for pagan and earth-reverent families.  We are currently seeking submissions of digital photographs, artwork, essays and interviews to be included in our website.  While our primary focus is on seasonally relevant material, we accept submissions of all sorts throughout the year to ‘fill in’ our archive.  For example, we’re happy to read your Ostara craft project in June or to receive your thoughts on Midsummer in the midst of winter’s darkness.

We are currently looking for:

  • Beltane and summer seasonal photographs
  • Beltane and summer seasonal artwork
  • ‘crafty Craft’ tutorials for seasonal craft projects with a pagan/earth-centric focus
  • Reviews and/or lists of pagan-friendly books and videos for the season
  • Beltane and Midsummer-related homeschool materials, coloring pages, and/or activity sheets
  • Original stories for families to read together
  • Blog-style personal stories of your special traditions as a pagan child and/or a pagan parent
  • Ideas for celebrating Yule as a family, decorating the home or altar for the season, or ways to be creative together as a family.
  • Ritual, party, and tradition ideas to celebrate the sabbat
  • Articles on your experiences as a pagan or earth-reverent person
  • Articles, photos, artwork, coloring, poems and thoughts on the season or sabbat by your pagan child (toddler to teen)

If your submission is chosen for Nature Nurtured, I’ll offer $5-$20 for its non-exclusive use on the site. (The price will depend on the material, if high-quality photos are included for articles and tutorials, length of the piece, uniqueness, necessary editing, etc.) You can decide if you’d like to go ahead and have your piece featured–as well as whether to use a pen name or your legal name and to link to your website if you’d like. I’ll mail you a check or PayPal you directly, as you prefer, and away we go!

Submissions may be edited for clarity and style.

I’ve looked to the print magazine model for some ideas of compensation and was surprised to see many compensate their non-staff writers with copies of the issue and free subscriptions but not with money.  Nature Nurtured is a personal project of mine and not a money-generating venture or a business. I wish I could pay more and may be able to in the future, but I hope that the token $5-$20 in some way reimburses you for your time and values your contributions to our success.  I want to make Nature Nurtured a valuable, sustainable entity in the pagan community and I want its presence, in all ways, to benefit pagans.

To submit, please send your materials to submissions@naturenurtured.com .
