Cool Free After Effects Presets

One of the latest videos I created is a 30 second transition bumper for a series at Grace Crossing UMC in Longview, TX called Building Blocks.

From start to finish I created the video in about 5 hours, which is an impressive feat for me. A big help in speeding up the process were a couple of free preset downloads I found online: Homemade RGB Twitch Plugin and Homemade Digieffects Damage. Both can be found on YouTube along with tutorial videos and download links. They were created by BakersTuts and I have to say they are pretty cool. He made them in an attempt to achieve the same effects like that of the Twitch plugin from Video Copilot.

With these presets from Baker, you can dial in some pretty cool effects without too much effort. They are created with the native effects that AE has to offer, no outside code or software. The only downside is that they are a little wonky to use because there is no interface with custom controls and such. For instance, with the RGB preset, you have to duplicate the layer you are affecting two times with the preset applied to each layer for the effect to work. Then you have to parent various controls together, etc. BUT, it’s totally free! And it is an effect that should be used sparingly anyways, so I’m not really complaining too much about it.

Kudos Baker! and thanks for the cool free stuff.
