Jim and Bobby Ukrop, most known as second-generation top executives of the family’s venerated regional grocery chain, which they sold in 2010, were named the 2016 Virginians of the Year.

Though his family name is one of the most recognizable names in Virginia, James E. “Jim” Ukrop prefers to stay in the background. Jim also helped found the bank that had branches in Ukrop’s Super Markets, Inc. locations.
