Starbase Jet: Avinode is one of the best sources for real-time flight data

Starbase Jet is a leading aircraft charter operator and Jet Card provider with offices in Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Singapore. They operate a fleet of 30 ARG/US Platinum safety rated jet aircraft and have been in business for over 13 years. Luis Barros has been working with Avinode at Starbase for 3 years, and personally for 7 years.
What is a typical day in your life as a broker/operator?
We mix our days with outbound calling to end users in the United States and worldwide, receiving and fulfilling trip requests from existing leads and accounts. We use Avinode to search for potential aircraft vendors and empty legs, and use Trip Manager to keep tabs on our operational workflow and flight calendar. Our Sales Executives speak with the end users directly, while our Sales Associates speak with our vendors and handle internal housekeeping.
How do you use Avinode?
Avinode is a great tool for finding empty legs and most based operators, and Trip Manager is tremendously useful to brokers as an operations tool—it’s greatly improved our efficiency and workflow. The quick tools resource and “search by location” feature have also been simple but highly useful additions. For any legitimate broker, Avinode is one of the best sources for real-time flight data in the marketplace.
How do you use Avinode for Empty Legs?
On the brokerage side, we go to Avinode immediately when a need for an empty leg arises. So it is a very handy and frequently used tool for purchasing. It is an effective form of weeding out the empty legs from “one ways.”
How has the empty legs tool affected your business?
This “venue” to post and request empty legs has allowed us to quickly obtain availability and cost information, and has allowed us to offer more options at significant savings for our clients on certain itineraries (therefore resulting in continued business). Simply the power to see multiple “possible” matches as a starting point to begin shopping and contacting potential customers on our own is a great first step in our sales process. It has allowed us to do more with our already stretched time.
