About
Having recently completed my M.Sc, I’ve continued to work at the University of Guelph Insect Collection where I study the systematics and taxonomy of Stilt-legged Flies (Diptera: Micropezidae) among other things. I took up nature photography as a hobby in 2007 in order to share the creatures I came across with family and friends, and now hope to share my photos with you.
I started this blog as a way to practice my scientific communication skills and to share some of my photos. Turns out I enjoy writing and sharing the fascinating world of insects and have embraced and incorporated social media into my day to day research. I hope you enjoy my meanderings through biodiversity, fly research, taxonomy and the various other topics I write about, and thanks for stopping by!

Did you hear about National Moth Week? It a cool new project that focus on biodiversity… on the week of July 23-29 we invite people to go out and looks for and at moths. Local moth nights that we run in East Brunswick, NJ attract many people and we thought it would be great to get the whole world involved! More information on the website at www.nationalmothweek.org.
