R.I.P SEVAN!

spacer With great sadness the FIDE Arbiters' Commission was informed that IA Sevan Muradian passed away on 18 February 2016.

The Commission expresses its sincere condolences to his family and to the US Chess Federation.

Sevan was a well known International Arbiter, International Organizer and FIDE Lecturer. He was the founder of the Chess IQ Academy and Chess Center in Chicago, USA and he was very active having organized many tournaments and FIDE Arbiters' Seminars.

His contribution to the Chess community was really great.

Rest in peace Sevan!
 
FIDE Arbiters’ Magazine No 2

Dear friends,

The FIDE Arbiters' Commission has the pleasure to publish the second issue of the Arbiters' Magazine.

We continue our efforts to offer to all the Arbiters around the world the necessary knowledge and information, to enable them to exercise their duties in the best way.

Many thanks to the Arbiters' Commission Editorial Subcommittee of IA Aris Marghetis (CAN), Secretary of the FIDE Arbiters' Commission, and IA Carlos Dias (POR), Member of the FIDE Arbiters' Commission, who collect and prepare the material for publication in the Magazine, as well as to IM Anastasia Karlovich (UKR), FIDE Press Officer, for her kind offer of the photos of this issue and to IA Efi Saltamara (GRE), for the compilation of the edition.

You are welcome to send to the Commission your comments, opinions and ideas, as well as any incidents that have come to your knowledge and you believe are worth publishing.

Lecture for Anti cheating regulations and guidelines for Arbiters On Internet

The FIDE Arbiters' Commission, in cooperation with the FIDE Anti Cheating Committee, will organize a lecture, in order to present the Anti cheating regulations and the Anti cheating guidelines for Arbiters that are in effect from 1 January 2014.

The lecture will be held on Internet, in 23 February 2016, 17.30-20.30 Eastern European Time (UTC+2).

The Lecturers will be IA Takis Nikolopoulos (GRE), Chairman of the FIDE Arbiters' Commission and IO Yuri Garrett (ITA), Secretary of the FIDE Anti Cheating Committee.

The Technical Organizer will be IA Mihail Prevenios (GRE).

The participation will be free for all Arbiters, with priority to IA, FA and then Arbiters of National Level. Maximum number of participants will be 40.

2016 ARBITERS’ AWARDS

The FIDE Arbiters' Commission has the pleasure to announce the starting of the procedure for the 2016 Arbiters' Awards.

The requirements for the Arbiters to be awarded are:

(a). to have obtained the IA title before 1981 (35 years of service as an IA)

(b). to have worked as an Arbiter in at least three (3) FIDE Major Events (Olympiads, World Championships, etc.).

National Federations and Officials are kindly requested to send their proposals to the FIDE Arbiters' Commission (Chairman Takis Nikolopoulos: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and Secretary Aris Marghetis: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) until 15 May 2016.

The proposals shall include the name of the candidate, the year he/she was awarded the International Arbiter title and the FIDE Major Events where he/she has worked.

The Awards Ceremony will take place during the General Assembly of the 2016 Baku FIDE Congress.
