The abc* Foundation believes that the cause of the enormous problem of worldwide hunger lies not in the lack of actual food, but with its unequal distribution. By partnering with La Tablée des Chefs, an innovative organization based in Canada, we seek to tackle the root of the hunger crisis.
La Tablée des Chefs confronts the significant issue of food supply inequalities by acting as a sustainable food broker between hotels, entertainment arenas and corporations, and shelters and soup kitchens. Thanks to La Tablée des Chefs‘ efforts, more than 300,000 underserved individuals across Canada annually receive meals that otherwise would have been thrown out.
La Tablée des Chefs currently operates in Montreal, Quebec, Calgary and Vancouver. Through providing funding, advisory support, access to legal services and strategic partners, the abc* Foundation is working with La Tablée des Chefs to expand its sustainable food brokerage service into Mexico City, the starting point in helping to alleviate the 49 million food insecure inhabitants in Mexico. The service is currently in its pilot phase and is expected to be fully operational in July of 2013.
