Housekeepers Cottage

Housekeepers Cottage is surrounded by unspoilt countryside from another age, woods & meadows sloping away to the deep delved Loveney Valley, one of Cornwall’s many hidden treasures. Lovingly renovated to a high standard retaining that country feel and Victorian charm but with all your creature conforts. Sleeps up to four people.

Additional guests can, by arrangement, be accommodated within the main house on a B&B or room only basis.

With no major roads within earsh ot, we are nonetheless easily accessible (A38 -3 miles; A30 4 miles; Bodmin Parkway mainline station 7 miles & Newquay airport 35 minutes drive). Indeed the noisiest thing to disturb the solitude are buzzards mewing while riding the moorland thermals, cattle or sheep grazing in an adjoining meadow, owls calling from the darkening woods, and if the wind is from the south, the hours chimed from St Neot Church, a mile away and 200′ below us (bell ringing Wednesday evening).

The Cottage Facilities

The main entrance to the cottage is the old housekeepers door, opening into a welcoming hallway that leads off into the Housekeepers bedroom, shower room & toilet, the old dairy kitchen dining room and the music room.

Housekeepers Bedroom

French windows onto the old courtyard, traditional rustic wall boards and beamed ceiling you get a real period feel. Long gone are the days of the housekeeper breaking ice in her water jug on a cold winter morning, the Cottage is now fully insulated, warm and cosy all year round.

Ample linen & towels are included.

The Old Dairy Kitchen

Still sporting the game hanging hooks in the ceiling and ancient slate floors but now with a modern electric Aga ‘Rangemaster’ cooker, antique furniture and modern appliances so you get the rural kitchen feel whilst keeping all the creature comforts you would expect of a modern kitchen.

Should you wish to do an online supermarket shop and have it delivered directly to Trevina ahead of your arrival we are happy to take receipt of it by arrangement.

The Music Room

We have been told that in the 1930’s & 40’s the house was owned by a London socialite as a weekend retreat and was the scene of many a musical soiree. The baby grand piano is tuned and ready to be played and there is even an old wind up gramophone to play some ’78’ records.

However, for more current entertainment the 42” HD TV is linked to a full Satellite package . Free wifi, a Nintendo Wii games console, and DVD player are provided. So after a day exploring the moors, chilling on the beach or absorbed in Cornish culture you can come home to your choice of entertainment.

The Music Room also doubles as a second bedroom, with French windows onto a sheltered intimate patio overlooking the garden and wooded valley.

Cornwall may have hours of sunshine , but if it does turn cold and wet…the wood burner not only makes for a cosy evening, but provides CH for the whole cottage. Both wood & electricity are included within the price.

The Shower Room

Newly refurbished and beautifully tiled shower room with a shower to wash you away. Sorry, no bath in the Cottage.

Outside Space

Housekeepers Cottage is set in 14 acres of gardens and woodlands that are all open to guests, for full details take a look at Trevina Grounds. Immediately around the cottage the is the house garden with cobble and gravel paths, secluded garden ‘rooms’. To the front of the cottage through the Music Room there is a small patio for the sole use of the Cottage overlooking the Alpine Garden and to the rear there is a large ‘Mediterranean’ patio.

Parking

Plenty of parking is available on the drive. Access to the Cottage is down a gravel path with some steps.
