Fair Use Repository

Donate to the Fair Use Repository

The Fair Use Repository at fair-use.org is an effort to make important historical documents freely accessible, easily readable, and easy for researchers to cite online. We prepare freely-accessible electronic copies of (1) documents in the public domain, and (2) the portions of documents cited in fair use by participating researchers. We are working to make citation easy for human researchers and readers to use, and to encourage, by example, best practices in using semantic HTML and other open web technologies to mark up the passages of printed documents that we transcribe. Some of our past accomplishments and ongoing projects include:

We put texts online in the hopes that they will be enjoyable, and useful to readers and researchers. If you benefit from the work that has gone into the Fair Use Repository, one way you can support the project is with a one-time or an automatic monthly donation. fair-use.org has a small annual budget of costs for the technical services, labor, and research costs that are necessary to keep fair-use.org online and operating. Donations allow this site to remain reader-supported.

If you would like to support this project, you can make a small contribution through Flattr, or you can make a secure online donation using Bitcoin or PayPal. All donations are handled by the Molinari Institute, our not-for-profit sponsor who handles the money for the Fair Use Repository:

Sustaining Pledges

The most effective way for you to support the Fair Use Repository is to establish an automatic gift. Annual or monthly contributions provide money that I can count on to meet regular operating expenses and to budget for future needs. You can set up an annual donation or a monthly contribution through PayPal. Everything's painlessly automatic; you can, of course, choose to cancel at any time.
