Carpool Policies at the Golden Gate Bridge

Carpool Toll Rate: The carpool toll rate is only available to eligible vehicles with a FasTrak Account displaying a properly mounted toll tag.

Dedicated Carpool Toll Lane is Toll Lane #2 on west (right) side of Toll Plaza: During designated carpool hours, eligible carpool vehicles must use the dedicated carpool toll lane established as toll lane #2 and be sure to always have the FasTrak toll tag mounted properly.

Dedicated Carpool Hours: 5 am to 9 am and 4 pm to 6 pm, weekdays except seven observed holidays – New Year's Day, Presidents' Day (third Monday in February), Memorial Day (last Monday in May), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Carpool Eligibility: During designated hours only, vehicles eligible to pay the carpool toll rate on the Golden Gate Bridge include:

2-axle vehicles with three or more persons;
Motorcycles, as defined and designated by CA DMV, including three-wheeled motorcycles;
Buses; and
Vehicles with a WHITE California DMV-issued Clean Air Vehicle decal

FasTrak Flex: Valid FasTrak Flex tags work the same as standard FasTrak toll tags on the Golden Gate Bridge. To receive the carpool discount, you must use our dedicated toll lane #2 during carpool hours. You do not have to set your tag position to declare your toll status. Tag position is not applicable on the Golden Gate Bridge.

Info for Vehicles with CA DMV Clean Air Decals

Since July 1, 2011, there are two different DVM-issued Clean Air Vehicle decals (WHITE and GREEN) that allow a vehicle to be operated by a single occupant in the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) or carpool lanes of California's freeways.

In the Bay Area, if you wish to operate a vehicle with the WHITE or GREEN DMV-issued Clean Air Vehicle decal as a single occupant vehicle in an HOV or carpool lane, you must open a FasTrak Account in your name. Learn more: www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/decal.htm.


	ONLY vehicles with the WHITE DMV decal qualify for the Golden Gate Bridge discounted carpool toll during carpool hours. You must have a FasTrak Account and use the dedicated carpool toll lane #2.

	The new 2012 DMV-issued GREEN decal DOES NOT qualify the vehicle for the discounted carpool toll rate.
