Looking Back
Curious about February’s Early Music Festival, sponsored by Catacoustic? At 21 events, with over 2200 people in attendance, it was a splendid month of music. Check out this year’s wrap-up, and start getting ready for next year!
Rumor has it that Beethoven described the trombone as the “voice of God.” The viola da gamba is usually considered the instrument closest to the human speaking voice. Whatever their metaphorical attributes, the two instruments make for one of the best pairings imaginable. Catacoustic’s April concert brings together the Dark Horse Consort of early trombones and a bespoke ensemble of viols. They will play in the gorgeous Old Saint Mary’s in Over-the-Rhine, one of Cincinnati’s oldest churches, whose acoustics have been waiting for this chance to show what they can do.
