spacer Commissioned by the duc de Richelieu in honor of Louis XIV, Charpentier’s intimate Baroque opera would have flattered the Sun King and brought the attention of the court to the duke’s newly renovated château and gardens. When Louis failed to show, the duke was bankrupted and the performance cancelled. The opera has been awaiting its debut for 330 years. Be a part of history, as Catacoustic performs music that has never been heard anywhere in the world before.
