PhotoIreland Festival announces Martin Parr’s selection of the 30 most influential photobooks of the last decade. The selection, on show at the National Photographic Archive of Ireland until the 31st of July, is featured in the exhibition catalogue, limited to an edition of 500.
The catalogue includes Martin Parr’s comments on each book, together with illustrations and ‘Author’s notes’. These are mostly unpublished texts by the photographers, publishers and curators of the works – personal statements on the process and raison d’être of each book.
The catalogue is available for purchase online priced €20.00, or signed by Martin Parr for €40.00. A special collectors edition, signed and numbered 1-30, in a hand-made box, can be purchased priced at €100.00, all prices exclude shipping costs. Please note that not all numbers of the special edition are still available.

Alberto Hernández is a London-based Spanish graphic designer with a Degree from Escuela de Arte número 10 and a Masters from the London College of Communication. His main interests are design for print and typography but Alberto’s work is diverse, taking inspiration from areas such as music and films.

Open Books is a project aiming to explore the “mise en abime” of the object book as well as to research the use of books as an exhibited material. This publication, Volumes ABC, was produced in two steps. Printed ahead of the exhibition, Volumes A+B served as a documentation tool and caption for the public. Extended later by Volume C, the three volumes become then a trace of the exhibition.

Kenneth Grange is Britain’s leading product designer, his prolific career spans over 50 years and he is responsible for designing some of the most iconic and familiar products and appliances that shape our daily lives. Kodak cameras, the silhouette for the Intercity 125 train, Kenwood food mixers, Parker pens, and the re-design of the London black cab are just some of his well-known designs.
In 1972 Grange, together with Alan Fletcher, Theo Crosby, Colin Forbes and Mervyn Kurlansky established Pentagram, a world renowned multi-disciplinary design consultancy. More recently, in the 1990s, Grange has produced distinctive designs that have become part of our landscape, from the Adshel bus shelter in 1993 to the Rural Post box for Royal Mail in 1998. Today Grange continues to work with British companies including Anglepoise, furniture designer Hitch Mylius and fashion designer Margaret Howell.
This exhibition is Kenneth Grange’s first UK retrospective celebrating his work, design journey and the role he has played in making Britain modern. With unique access to the Grange archive, the exhibition includes over 150 products, prototypes, sketches as well as audio, photography and film.
