This conference brings together communication scholars who investigate language in many social contexts, using quantitative or qualitative methods. Research in this field is multi-disciplinary, with particularly strong contributions from communication studies and communicology, social psychology, sociolinguistics, and applied linguistics. It focuses on the perceptions, motivations, norms and contextual factors that influence interactants in the communication process, as well as on language and communication behavior and its consequences.

Accommodation and Transportation Information

1. Bangkok has a wide variety of accommodation to suit every taste and budget and most is to be found on the web (accommodation is not covered by the registration fee). Local organizers are currently trying to negotiate favourable rates from hotels they have used before in three budget categories: budget (around US $40.00) mid-range (US$ 70-100.00) or higher (US$ 100+). Details will be available by 1st December, 2015.

3. Travel, visas, insurance, climate, health requirements, etc.

The Tourism authority of Thailand has a fair amount of information at www.tourismthailand.org, and there are many other websites that may be useful (surf to your hearts’ content!). However, since these aspects are your responsibility, please ensure you obtain and follow appropriate advice, WELL IN ADVANCE, for travel, visas, health and insurance from your national agencies, and from Thai embassies in your countries.

4. Organisers are also exploring possibilities of local guided tours (details will be posted as soon as they are available).
