ABOUT

Hi, I’m la Domestique, and I’m here to help you live la belle vie every single day of the week.

What is la belle vie?

To me, the good life is enjoying delicious, healthy meals made with the freshest seasonal produce every day.

It’s nourishing the body with food that is appetizing, satisfying, and healing.

It’s feeling more alive by savouring the moment and living in sync with nature.

What holds you back from living the good life?

You’re surrounded by inspiration for la belle vie every day, but it remains just out of reach. You experience a taste of it during a leisurely Saturday at the local farmers market, but end up overwhelmed or too busy to cook with the beautiful produce at home. Sadly, much of it is forgotten in the back of the fridge, eventually tossed into the bin.

You know what you need to do but can’t seem to make a habit of cooking at home due to busy schedules and disorganization. You make resolutions to cook dinner every night, only to give up on the third evening when you arrive home from work exhausted and the fridge is empty. Defeated, you reach for the phone and order takeaway again.

Sitting down to a fresh and healthy meal every day sounds wonderful, but you don’t enjoy spending hours in the kitchen chopping vegetables or stumbling through complicated recipes. You’d rather be one of those elusive people who have time for everything: work, daily exercise, family, and fun, while effortlessly putting vibrant, healthy meals on the table.

I can help you live la belle vie

I believe the good life is accessible to everyone, no matter your income, busy lifestyle or cooking skills. It’s not just about being inspired, it’s about taking action.

Just like a personal trainer creates an exercise program to help you get fit, I create programs to help you put healthy, delicious meals on the table every day.

La belle vie is a habit you’ve got to practice daily. I’m here to do the planning and organizing so you can just focus on the action. I know you’re overwhelmed with decisions every day, from what to wear to how much to save for retirement. You don’t have the time or the mental energy to plan healthy meals at home around the clock, and that’s ok.

Professional Bio

Jessica O’Toole is La Domestique, a healthy cooking advocate who helps people live a more vibrant life beginning in the kitchen. She’s an American living in Dublin with her Irish husband, Len, and the cutest dachshund in the world, Minnie.

A “Jill” of all trades, Jessica has years of experience in the food and hospitality industry, working almost every job imaginable: waitress, barista, short-order-cook, baker, wine rep, and even farmer. Her passions for cooking and teaching led to the creation of LaDomestique.com in 2011. Since then she’s been busy in the kitchen developing recipes, researching food and writing about the subject extensively, as well as photographing her culinary creations. Jessica has contributed to Food52, Whole Foods Market Cooking, and Great British Chefs, in addition to other print and online publications.

Since her first cancer diagnosis in 2001 at the age of 19, Jessica sought to find balance between food as pleasure and food as medicine. She’s now 32 years young and a survivor of leukemia, a bone marrow transplant, and multiple cases of the deadly skin cancer, melanoma. Like most people, she seeks to live a better, healthier life each day, starting with the food needed to fuel her body. She believes in the healing power of vegetables and the need to indulge in chocolate cake occasionally. Her mission: provide encouragement and guidance to those who seek to live the good life, or as she calls it, la belle vie!
