The System 460: My Body

spacer

I mean who wants to visit a temple, right? Where’s the flash? The pizazz? The roller coaster rides? The fun house? Is your body a temple, or have you come up with something better?

Btw, thanks to @brianfenton who stole the words out of my mouth on Twitter claiming his body is both a brewery and distillery.

Depending on the water source for the shower aspect, might be a good idea to think about the water source. Although I must admit it would be a "green" way of going.

"Coffee grounds are a source of nitrogen, calcium and magnesium. These nutrients are beneficial to the plants in your garden. Using the grounds is an environmentally friendly and cost effective way to nourish your plants. You are saving space in our landfills by recycling this household waste. The grounds are also beneficial to your compost pile. They help maintain the nitrogen balance which is important for decomposition of the organic materials in your compost."

William Miller, director of Cornell's Flower Bulb Research Program, reported his findings in the April issue of HortTechnology, a peer-reviewed journal of horticulture. A recent study showed, "Giving some plants diluted alcohol whiskey, vodka, gin or tequila stunts the growth of a plant’s leaves and stems but doesn’t affect the blossoms."

Urine: "After suitable processing (as is done, for example, on the International Space Station), it is possible to extract potable water from urine for drinking."

So, consider this all, "food for thought". (I just couldn't resist that.)

Is it possible to adopt moms?

      • Rossmom

Well, I would check w/your Mom first, but if it's ok w/her–it's fine w/me:)

        • alli893

Watch out Ross! I'm stealing… err… adopting your mom! =P

I remember my grandmother used to put coffee grounds around her rose bushes, so I guess that's not exactly a new idea. Never heard of watering your flowers with booze, though.

As for the water recycling, the same thing happens here on earth. It's just that most of it happens far out of sight, greatly reducing the ick factor.

"As a fertilizer, used coffee grounds are slightly acidic and full of nitrogen, a mineral that aids vegetable and plant growth. What is more, the grounds, when used for planting, create a natural acidic form of bacteria which boosts the growth of acid-loving plants like tomatoes, roses, blueberries and evergreens. According to The Composting Council of Canada, adding coffee to soil not only increases the nutritional value, but also betters the texture and fertility of the soil and aids in attracting earthworms."

I use coffee grounds for fertilizing and they have indeed kept my plants thriving.

"Humans and animals also affect the water cycle. We both drink water and then urinate or perspire. Water evaporates from urine and enters the atmosphere or it may seep into the groundwater, or travel through streams. We both also even affect the water cycle by breathing, which releases water vapor."

As for the "ick" factor, that's kind of hard to ignore when you see dogs being walked and marking their territory w/urine. I would suggest just start texting when you see any animals. Of course, then you might not see a human or animal, bump into or trip over them (the animal, that is) and perhaps be sprayed by some of that "eventually turned into drinking water" urine.

i'll turn my into a dispensary. whoo!

See if you can get the people from the old "Ground Force" TV show to help you with that water feature. It'll get done faster and cheaper, and that Charlie lady looks like River Song's younger sister. (Am I turning British?)

Anyway, I think of my body less as a "temple" and more of a "shrine" to all my past bad decisions. Of course, here in California, that means I'm eligible for the registry of Historic Landmarks.

i guess my body is a ‘shrine’ instead of ‘temple’ too.. simple, old-fashioned & yet versatile in any situation.
at last catch up to the latest Systems! keep it up Ross!
