The Nature Research Center

The Nature Research Center (NRC) is the new wing of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Its goal is to bring research scientists and their work into the public eye, help demystify what can be an intimidating field of study, better prepare science educators and students, and inspire a new generation of young scientists. Dr. Lowman is the Director of the Nature Research Center.

REU Canopy Explorers

Designed for eight students, four with ambulatory disabilities and four without, this project is based on the idea that a wheelchair is not a limit to good field biology. Students will engage in canopy research to learn about herbivory, arthropods, and in particular, small critters called tardigrades (or water bears).
