TRYING TO LEARN PIXEL ART

Trying to learn how to make pixel art for video games. It’s so hard and frustrating to try to just hack together both artwork and animation all in a rush just to get a video game done. Wish I would have learned this stuff earlier on. Oh well. No time like the present.

PROBLEMS WITH LANGUAGE AND MEANING

It’s depressing to think about when you get started, that so many of the terms commonly used to talk about a work of art fall into this grey area of contextually specific meaning.

WITH US OR AGAINST US

I saw Steven Heller lecture at D|MA UCLA today. He was talking about the power of graphic design in fascist regimes. At one point I was reminded of something Bush said when the UN refused to back his preemptive strike on Iraq.

No need for mutiplexors or serial shifting anymore now that I’m controlling things with the monster of Arduinos, the Sanguino! Weeee! Well, actually I’ll still need multiplexors some times. BUILDING A REPRAP

I’m building a RepRap for the Design department at UCLA. We just got the electronics kit from the RepRap Research Foundation in the mail and I’ve soldered together all of the electronics. Turns out to be quite a bit of soldering. It would be terrible to work in a sweat shop.
