Sarah E. Nageotte to serve as 2014-2015 NCRA President

Official court reporter from Ohio to lead country’s leading organization representing stenographic court reporters, captioners, CART providers and legal videographers

SAN FRANSICSO Aug. 1, 2014 — The National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), the country’s leading organization representing stenographic court reporters, broadcast and CART captioners, and legal videographers, today announced that Sarah E. Nageotte, an official court reporter from Jefferson, Ohio, was installed as 2014-2015 president during the association’s annual Convention & Expo being held July 29 - Aug. 3 in San Francisco.

Nageotte, who holds the nationally recognized professional certifications of Registered Diplomate Reporter (RDR), Certified Realtime Reporter (CRR), and Certified Broadcast Captioner (CBC), previously served as NCRA’s 2013-2014 president-elect. She has been an official court reporter for 16 years and is currently employed by the U.S. District Court in Cleveland, Ohio. She has also worked as an official reporter for the Ashtabula County Common Pleas Court in Ohio and the Crawford County Common Pleas Court in Pennsylvania.

Nageotte has served on numerous NCRA committees including Communications and Outreach, and Policies and Procedures. She also served on the association’s TRAIN (Taking Realtime Awareness and Innovation Nationwide) Task Force and the Strategic Alliance Task Force. Other service includes as a member of NCRA’s Officials Community of Interest and the Finance, CAPR’s Verification, and Social Media Networking committees, as well as the New Affiliates Task Force. She often serves as a presenter at NCRA conventions.

Active at the local level, Nageotte has served on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Court Reporters Association (OCRA) and on a number of the organization’s committees. In 2008, she received OCRA’s Distinguished Service Award, and in 2012, the association’s Legislative Award. She often is called upon to serve as a presenter at OCRA conventions.

Dedicated to the court reporting profession, Nageotte has presented before her county’s bar association, the Ohio Judicial Conference, and numerous other community groups, including as a guest presenter for numerous OCRA conventions. She has testified on behalf of court reporters before the Ohio Senate Finance Committee and has written for the Ohio Buckeye Record and the JCR, the official publication of the NCRA.

In 2011, Nageotte was awarded the Academy of Court Reporting/Miami Jacobs Alumni Award, and was honored in 2012 by the Ashtabula Area Chamber of Commerce as one of the Top 5 Under 45 Young Professionals of Ashtabula County. Nageotte also holds membership in the United States Court Reporters Association.
