In Faerie Winter the focus shifts from the human reaction to the war and its aftermath to the faeries and their desire for revenge. It is easy for them to cause a fair amount of chaos using their faerie powers which include being able to control the actions of others. The faeries attacking our world are like suicide bombers trying to do as much damage as possible before they eventually end up getting themselves killed. They have no illusions about making it out of this alive. As usual Liza manages to save the day, but not without personal loss and further degradation of her relationship with her mother.
