Express the Essence of An Idea
Adelphi's English Department explores the pleasures and values of the written word- helping students develop critical and creative skills that are in high demand in today's workplace.
In the Adelphi English department, students and faculty explore the pleasures, frustrations, illuminations and puzzlements of literary reading and of writing both critically and creatively.
There’s a practical side as well to studying for a degree in English at Adelphi. Our graduates have gone on to become engineers and doctors as well as lawyers, writers, editors, teachers, marketing and advertising executives, administrators, and every other kind of professional.
The Department of English offers the following programs:
» B.A. in English: Concentrations in Literature or Creative Writing
» Minor in English
» M.F.A. in Creative Writing
English majors can also enter the Scholar Teacher Education Program in the Ruth S. Ammon School of Education.
