CELEBRATE RADIO is a new
and very different and
much needed national full-time
non-profit satellite
radio network to focus on society's needs while entertaining
people and working, unlike other media, to unite us..
(Newtown as well as the division in our country has
stirred up feelings and vision first awoken in us when we were at
Columbine High School that tragic week in 1999 and we got to know the
parents and siblings of many of the teenagers killed during that
tragedy. We produced two national radio specials with them a few years
after that, began an
acclaimed, uplifting weekly music and interview show, Reaching
Up. We also added 25 more web sites serving children, youth and
families including the only national minority youth resource sites (3
separate sites) through our non-profit Streetcats
Foundation and
produced/distributed to AM and FM stations a series of
multi-organization radio psas in the fight against poverty, violence,
AIDS, hunger, child abuse and teen addiction. We also continued to
start a dozen more of our Teen-Anon groups, the only national 12-step
fellowship for addicted teenagers.)
We are now getting
very close to starting the first national public radio network
since NPR three decades ago but one very different from and
far more passionate than either NPR or all the commercial networks
that proliferate today...an entertaining and uplifting network
concentrating on the changes we all know are needed in America and the
world (and Gandhi's concept of being the change we want to see);
a network that is 24/7 across the country as well as Canada, Mexico,
the Caribbean and Australia on Galaxy 19 satellite and
everywhere else on the web, on smart phones, laptops and tablets...
We now need help to get into Phase 2'updating and
launching the 24/7 web stream so it can be heard on the web and smart
phone apps, in preparation for 24/7 coast-to-coast broadcast on
satellite to 6 million people.
Celebrate Radio is a network unlike any other with no political slant, no gossip, no
excluding people, no focus at all on people arguing or on reporting
sensational violence and scandal or division, a full-time network that
unites people, while
concentrating on hope and ways to solve problems---not with sound
bytes but sufficiently long (15-25 minute) interviews, many shorter
daily features and brief newscasts throughout the day , TED Talks
including Bono, speakers who are Nobel Peace Prize winners and take
part in the Clinton Global Initiatives, as well as our own exclusive
inspirational concerts and contemporary music playlist (1700 songs).
Most of all, on satellite, the web, tablets and smartphones, we are
ready after 3 years to begin to broadcast 24 hours a day
what's needed more than ever to passionately inspire us again and
to unite us in and foster compassionate action..... while also
providing 24 hrs a day of uplifting music and other entertainment for
a diverse audience of all faiths!
Added to programming are all of our own dozens of full (as well as
excerpted) in-person
interviews with people like Dr. Wess Stafford CEO Compassion
International, Pastor Rick and Kay Warren, Mississippi civil rights
pioneer Hollis Watkins, U.S. Fund for UNICEF CEO Caryl Stern, Saved By
the Light author Dannion Brinkley, Gandhi grandson Arun Gandhi, Not
for Sale
(anti-trafficking) co-founder Mark Wexler, Yale
Giving Voice to Values creator Dr. Mary Gentile, executives of Mercy
Corps working in Northern Japan, Sinai Temple L.A. Rabbi David
Wolpe, Lebanese pastor Faoud Masri, Israeli stars Idan Raichel and Rami
Kleinstein and Jewish contemporary stars Craig Taubman, Rick Recht,
Sam Glaser and the Yeshiva Boys Choir, Christian contemporary stars
including Newsboys, Martin Smith of Delirious, Natalie Grant, Darlene
Zchech of Hillsong, Mercy Me, The African Childrens Choir and Soweto
Gospel Choir, Northern Ireland singing sensations The Priests, social
activist musicians Tom Paxton and Peter Yarrow of Peter Paul and Mary,
Kevin Palau, Latoya Greaves at dresshead, Vicar Nicky Gumbel, filmmakers Austin Vickers, Dan
Merchant and David DeSabitino, Peace Child Israel director Melisse
Boskavich and dozens more!,
You
can also hear a selection of those interviews at www.reachingup2.podomatic.com
and www.donunplugged.podomatic.com
and www.lchaim.podomatic.com
and a preview audio "demo" of Celebrate Radio with numerous
broadcast excerpts.
We have already
completed most of the programming and all station imaging....the
professional announcer and 'celebrity' station ids and jingles to
give Celebrate Radio an exciting sound, along with our own 1700 song
eclectic and uplifting Positively Music pop song mix not only from the
U.S. but 12 other countries; also, a mix of highly enjoyable
interviews, features and music already 'tested' on-the-air weekly
for 5 years and raved about by our audiences (see
'what our listeners say' on the Celebrate Radio web site!
We have 49 programs and 20 daily features already and 12 brief
newscasts a day ! The NPR-style sponsor breaks will be just 2.5
minutes per hour, instead of the up-to-24 minute commercials on most
TV and radio these days. And the low, low cost of running this
national and later, international satellite network (under $25,000 a year, assures sustainability!
On
satellite alone, it will be heard by 6 million people across the U.S.,
Canada, Mexico, Caribbean and much of Australia and everywhere on the
web, as well as smartphones and tablets.
(In a later phase, we will
also broadcast on the Hotbird 6 satellite DTH to all of Europe and the
Middle East as we do across North America on the Galaxy 19 satellite!)
Celebrate Radio, as a full-time, 24/7 national satellite radio
network, will harness the great power of mass media to do really good
things to foster change, while uplifting people with positives and
keeping the focus on social justice.......We are already mostly
(90%) programmed, except for a month of updates we want to make to our web stream
on servers in Fremont California and Milan Italy.
Our award-winning
weekly hit satellite program, Reaching
Up, will spin-off a second weekly series called And Justice for
All that will be broadcast on 2 more satellite networks as well as be
distributed to FM stations through NPR's PRSS distribution system
and PRX.Program Exchange.
As we're doing all
the above, we'll be working to syndicate the weekly shows to more AMs
and FMs, which will help draw listeners to the 24/7 satellite radio
network(s).
We are now in
Phase 2 of the project, having funded all of the considerable Phase 1
ourselves.
There are NO
salaries included, just minimal expenses.
Now we need
immediate help with phase 2 and later, phase 3:
PHASE
2
$
585.00 month $3,500.00 6 MONTHS
gets
the weekly show on an additional coast-to-coast secular satellite
radio network, gets the new weekly program And Justice for All, our
newest weekly series, broadcast on satellite as well, gets We Can
Matter transcripts done for an interview e-book gets
the 24/7 web stream running again so we can take a few months to
greatly update it with new material according to an expanded vision
and fix any technical kinks and it gives us a little added money we
need to survive. Phase 2 also
lets other potential funders , sponsors and journalists (for
publicity) actually hear Celebrate Radio 24/7 whenever they want,
while starting to build a 24/7 audience on the web, tablets and
smartphones as we promote it on the weekly broadcasts! We can
get along with half that small funding now (about $1900) and half a
few months ago if need be.
OR
PHASE

PARTIAL PHASE 3
