REMEMBERING EARLINE PERRY
1927-2016 |
Since the earliest days of their marriage, Earline Perry and her
husband, Lowell, were praying that the message of Gods love
could cover the earth. In 1976 they were instrumental in the
founding of World Christian Broadcasting. The next year, in
March of 1977, Lowell gave his life in a tragic airplane
explosion near the island of Martinique while he and two others
were searching for the first broadcast site for the new
ministry.
Earline never faltered in supporting World
Christian Broadcasting from its beginning to the day of her
death, February 19, 2016. Earline Perry is a remarkable
servant, said Dr. Bob Scott, first president of World Christian
Broadcasting. Lowell was the love of her life and they were a
matched pair. Their family has had great influence on those
around them.
Despite the crash, Earline became an advocate for World
Christian Broadcasting and helped with fundraising. When the
Alaska station was built, Earline went to attend the grand
opening.
Shortly before Lowells death, Earline earned her realtors
license. She sold her first two houses just the day before
Lowell left for the Caribbean. Her real estate business
prospered, and through her income from that Earline became one
of World Christian Broadcastings most generous donors.
For the last 25 years, Earline has been on our Board of
Directors. Charles Caudill, president of World Christian
Broadcasting, said, She is one of the strongest supporters we
have, not only financially, but in encouragement also. Earline
is remembered fondly by the staff of World Christian
Broadcasting as one who not only came to Board meetings, but who
walked throughout the building to encourageand distribute
substantial financial giftsto all staff members.
On hearing the news of Earlines death, charter member of the
Board Dr. George Bridges wrote, She had one of the strongest
Christian characters I have ever witnessed. Her strength when
she received the news of Lowells passing . . . was a monumental
example to all of us to keep on keeping on. She led her family
in faith as they continued their walk with the Savior in
troubled times. Always gracious, looking forward, talking to
any and all about WCB and its mission of reaching the entire
world for Christ . . . . Rex Morgan, Senior Producer for Latin
America, wrote, A great, loving, and generous woman has been
taken home. Her example and her mission will live on through
us. Our prayers are with her family . . . .
Earline is survived by her two sons, David and Greg, and a
daughter, Susan, as well as four grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren. |

ABOVE ALL
EXPECTATIONS! |
On Easter Sunday morning, March 27, World Christian Broadcastings
second station began transmitting life-changing programs. Ten years
ago construction on the station began, and in spite of delays too
numerous to mention, the sign-on day finally arrived.
When
the switch was flipped on, a three-way Skype transmission enabled
friends of the ministry in Franklin, Tennesseeat our Programming
Centerand in Anchor Point, Alaskaat our first station that has
been transmitting since 1983to see what was happening at the new
station. The photo shows the standing-room only crowd who gathered
in Franklin to be a part of this momentous event. These were people
who had been praying for this day to comeand finally it was here!
Within just a few hours we began receiving emails from people all
over the world who had picked up the signals from Madagascar. We
heard from shortwave enthusiasts in Sri Lanka, India, Russia,
Finland, Ukraine, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Bulgaria, Italy,
Colombia, Sweden, and points in the United States from Massachusetts
to California. Almost all emails said what Jyrki in Finland said,
I was very surprised about the signal strength. One man wrote the
touching note that he received his first QSL card from KNLS 30 years
ago. You sent me a mini red Bible, which I still have today. I
wish you all the best with the new station. 73 and yours in
Christ. (QSL cards are postcards sent from shortwave stations to
those who communicate details of what they have heard and when they
heard it.)
One man in Kursk, Russia, wrote, It has happened! The Lord has
heard our prayers and after many difficulties and obstacles, His
word sounds through our shortwave receivers, coming from Alaska and
from the remote island in the Indian Ocean. I am listening to your
broadcast and it feels good in my soul . . . Thank you for your
work. God bless you!
God has been blessing the construction of this facility from its
beginning over ten years ago. We have had more delays than we care
to remember, but we are confident that everything has been in Gods
timing. We are thrilled to be used as His agents to distribute the
Good News throughout the world. Praise be to Him! |
