  • Specimen collection procedures
  • Collecting, evaluating, and processing patients specimens

  • Responding to emergency procedures as required
  • Handling, centrifuging, labeling and accessioning specimens
  • Lab assistant phlebotomist: a lab assistant a person who is involved in setting up various apparatus in the lab and may carry out the procedures in the absence of the health technician.

Basic roles performed among others include;

  • Computer or register data entry and retrieval
  • Perform venipuncture on patients
  • Specimen handling

Clinical lab phlebotomist: duties performed include;

  • Receiving specimens from the lab and delivering them to the right departments
  • Helps in collecting specimens from identified patients
