About Nate Whitehill
His former company, Unique Blog Designs (UBD) is one of the leading web design firms specializing in WordPress-powered blogs. He is also the former Chief Creative Officer of Highlighter.com.
Whitehill is web developer with over eighteen years of experience designing, developing and deploying websites and web applications. He has been a self-employed, full-time software entrepreneur since 2007, having founded both of the aforementioned companies.
Unique Blog Designs
In 2007, Whitehill co-founded a web development firm specializing in building WordPress-powered blogs and content management systems. He launched Unique Blog Designs, with redesigns for two of the top 100 bloggers in the world at that time, John Chow and Jeremy Schoemaker.
Since 2007, he and Unique Blog Designs have worked with hundreds of people and companies. Whitehill has consulted with some of the world’s largest people and brands including as Yahoo!, Nike, NewsCorp, CNBC, Anthony Robbins, EMC, and IMVU.
In 2010, Whitehill co-founded another company – Highlighter.com – a learning engagement platform for students and teachers.
Highlighter and Tech Stars
In May of 2010, he and his business partners, Josh Mullineaux and Matthew Blancarte, applied to the TechStars startup accelerator program in order to network and raise capital for Highlighter. As luck would have it, they were accepted into the inaugural Seattle TechStars class.
In May of 2011, he and his team raised a $300,000 round to grow and scale Highlighter. In March of 2012, they raised an additional $350,000, bringing their total seed funding to $650,000.
Whitehill spends his free time playing golf, running, mountain biking, traveling, and race car driving.
