Nancy Kress is the author of twenty-six books: three fantasy novels, twelve SF novels, three thrillers, four collections of short stories, one YA novel, and three books on writing fiction. She is perhaps best known for the “Sleepless” trilogy that began with BEGGARS IN SPAIN. The novel was based on a Nebula- and Hugo-winning novella of the same name. She won her second Hugo in 2009 in Montreal, for the novella “The Erdmann Nexus.” Kress has also won three additional Nebulas, a Sturgeon, and the 2003 John W. Campbell Award (for PROBABILITY SPACE). Her most recent books are a collection of short stories, NANO COMES TO CLIFFORD FALLS AND OTHER STORIES (Golden Gryphon Press, 2008); a bio-thriller, DOGS (Tachyon Press, 2008); and an SF novel, STEAL ACROSS THE SKY (Tor, 2009).

Kress’s fiction, much of which concerns genetic engineering, has been translated into twenty languages. She often teaches writing at various venues around the country. Kress lives in Seattle with Cosette, the world’s most spoiled toy poodle.

Walter Jon Williams

Walter Jon Williams is a New York Times and London Timesbestselling author, and the author of Hardwired, City on Fire, and The Praxis.  He has written 30 volumes of fiction in 30 years, as well as being nominated for ten Nebula Awards, six Hugo Awards, the World Fantasy Award, and the Philip K Dick Award.  He has also written for movies, television, and the gaming field.

He has participated in the Sycamore Hill and Franklinia workshops, as well as being a founding member of the Very Small Array and Critical Mass workshops.  He is the founder of the Rio Hondo professional workshop in Taos, as well as the founder of Taos Toolbox, the workshop for new writers.

James S.A. Corey

James S.A. Corey is the author of The Expanse, the series of novels that inspired the Syfy Network’s series.  James S.A. Corey is the pen name for two collaborators, Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck.

In addition to The Expanse, Daniel Abraham writes high fantasy under his own name, his works including The Dagger and Coin and The Long Price Quartet.  He has written the urban fantasy series The Black Sun’s Daughter under the name MLN Hanover.

Daniel has also collaborated with George R.R. Martin and Gardner Dozois on Hunter’s Run, and wrote the graphic novel adaptations of Game of Thrones.

Daniel is a graduate of the Clarion West workshop.

Ty Franck is a graduate of Orson Scott Card’s two-week bootcamp for writers, and sold one of his workshopped stories to The Intergalactic Medicine Show.  

Both have a strong workshop background.  Daniel will be present at Taos Toolbox in 2016, and Ty will attend if his schedule as Executive Producer of The Expanse permits.
