spacer Paula Bernstein is a writer/editor with many years of experience in independent film, documentary film and filmmaking. A Contributing Editor to Filmmaker Magazine, she was formerly an editor Indiewire, where she oversaw the Filmmaker Toolkit section.

Previously, Bernstein was a contributor to Fast Company’s Co. Create. A former television reporter for Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, Bernstein has written reviews, reported features, personal essays and interviews about a variety of subjects, including film, television, advertising, books, technology, food, parenting and travel.

Her writing has appeared in USA Today, Adweek, Fast Company, The New York Times, The New York Observer, Adweek, New York Magazine, TV Guide, The Village Voice, Interview and other digital and print publications. She has also worked as a social media consultant for companies including Nickelodeon and Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Bernstein is the co-author (with Elyse Schein) of Identical Strangers: A Memoir of Twins Separated and Reunited (Random House, 2007). A graduate of Wellesley College, Bernstein received her Masters in Cinema Studies from New York University. Born in New York City, she now lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband, Anthony Orkin, along with their two daughters, a dog and a cat.
