Oregon Legislature Passes Historic Coal Transition Bill
PORTLAND,Ore. – The Oregon Legislative Assembly today approved a landmark bill that will commit the state to eliminate its use of coal power by 2035 and double the amount of clean, renewable energy serving Oregonians to 50 percent by 2040. Otherwise known as the Clean Electricity and Coal Transition plan, Senate Bill 1547-B received final approval on the Senate floor today after the Oregon House approved the bill in a 38-20 bipartisan vote on Tuesday. read

Support for Clean Electricity Amps Up
SALEM, Ore. -- Today, Oregon’s House of Representatives kept up the energy behind the Clean Electricity and Coal Transition bill (HB 4036) with a bipartisan vote to pass the clean energy legislation. While many Oregonians used this holiday weekend to enjoy the great outdoors, legislators got down to business in a bipartisan 39 to 20 vote to support a bill which sets Oregon on a path to eliminate coal from powering our homes and businesses, while simultaneously doubling the amount of clean energy -- like wind and solar power -- used in Oregon. read

Oregon Aims to Set New Precedent for Clean Energy Leadership
"If Oregon’s utilities and clean energy advocates have their way, the state will soon be rapidly accelerating its transition toward a clean energy economy. This month, the Oregon legislature is considering HB 4036, a comprehensive plan crafted by a broad set of stakeholders that would double the state’s commitment to renewable energy, lock in cost-effective efficiency investments, and completely phase out the use of coal as an electricity source. It’s an ambitious and achievable proposal that raises the bar in defining what it means to be a global clean energy and climate leader." read
