THE PLUM CITY LIONS
A GROUP FOR ALL AGES
The Plum City Lions were officially formed sometime prior to 1967. I am not specific to the date, as records don’t clarify with certainty the inception of the club to formality. Duane Sherpy and Art Solie have been mentioned as being instrumental in bringing the club to Plum City. Since the history is not well documented we pay tribute to all of those that may have been involved in the forming of this great community oriented group of men and women alike.
The Plum City Lions currently has about 20 members. Two of those members are quite distinguished and should be very proud of their accomplishment of over 40 years of service. Those 2 charter members are Elwood Eccles and Gayle Collett. They both joined around the same time in 1967. Their service to the community through their active participation in the Lions club is to be commended.
There are 3 main fund raising events that the Lions are involved in annually. The Jack Harmon chicken dinner has become a nice way to spend an evening in February. In the spring on Palm Sunday the pancake feed serves up hot cakes with locally made maple syrup. Then in November the always-popular gun raffle is held.
The Plum City Lions are responsible for many donations over the years. From their scholarship program to their latest donation for a magnification viewing device for the residents of the Plum City Care Center and the surrounding community members. This device helps those with visual impairment to see pictures and articles in an enlarged setting. As a club we also hold the annual Halloween Party and the Senior Dinner at Christmas.
We are always looking for both men and women to come and be a part of our group and festivities. The obligations are what you make them. It is really satisfying to be involved in making Plum City a better place to live and I believe that The Plum City Lions are a group that adds tremendous value to this community. Make your self-known. Be heard. Join us for a meeting and see for yourself. Phil Roberts Lions Member.
RECYCLE RESPONSIBLY
The recycling bins are brought to our community from the county to be used for the purpose of keeping the environment as people friendly as possible. With the price of energy today
the costs of transportation of the containers has increased. By recycling responsibly by crushing cans when possible and folding cardboard for space considerations just makes sense.
Thank-you for your help. And Thanks for recycling.
