Amateur photographers are asked to give their best digital wildlife snaps to BC SPCA’s 6th annual Wildlife-In-Focus Photography Competition. The event that runs from 30th September backs the Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre on Vancouver Island, where almost two thousand five hundred orphaned and injured wild animals are taken care of every year.
In a press release release, BC SPCA’s chief scientific officer Sara Dubois told: “We are excited to help British Columbia’s wildlife photographers showcase the amazing diversity of animals we have throughout our province, in both urban settings and isolated locations,”
“The images we receive each year are stunning and really make it hard for judges to choose the winning photos.”
Photographs entered in earlier competitions have been featured in BC SPCA’s Animal Sense and Bark! magazines, and in local newspapers, websites, social media as well as educational materials. Prizes are handed for top 3 snaps in each of 2 categories -
Backyard Habitats and Wild Settings. The contest is open to amateur snappers aged fourteen and up. All snaps must be clicked within the province and given in digital format. Snaps of feral, domestic and exotic animals would not be accepted nor the photos of zoos or animal rehabilitation facilities.
