Gallery Show:
Jim Shearer
April 1, 2011
"Opening Day: Yinz Luv 'Da Buccos" Art Opening
Reception on April 1 from 8-10pm
Jim Shearer, the mastermind behind the web-series "Yinz Luv 'Da Guins" and "Yinz Luv 'Da Stillers," is answering a question he's been asked ever since he started his homemade, YouTube sports shows three years ago: Do yinz luv 'da Buccos? The answer is "yes." In "Opening Day: Yinz Luv 'Da Buccos" exhibit on display at Wildcard through the month of April, Shearer pays homage to the Pittsburgh Pirates of his youth (back when it was somewhat customary to end a season with more wins than losses) in a series of portraits of beloved players. Using the same art tools he wielded as a youngster, each image is created with colored pencils, crayons, magic markers, and watercolors.
Opening Night reception on Friday, April 1 from 8-10PM. The event is free and includes complimentary drinks and refreshments, along with a Pirates trivia contest and other surprises.

Classes at WildCard
Pittsburgh Craft Collective: Dream Pillow Class
April 30, 2011
Join us for a Dream Pillow Class on Saturday, April 30 from 1 to 3pm! Instructor Abbey Bricker writes: "I have always loved to dream. In fact, there are some mornings when I purposely fall back asleep just to continue dreaming. Anything can happen while you are sleeping; you can relive beautiful moments from your waking life, or be with people that you love and miss. When I learned about dream pillows I was intrigued - the idea of influencing my dreams with lovely herbs tucked into a tiny pillow I made myself was definitely something I had to try!"
Dream pillows are easy to make and can be put to good use the same night they are made. Abbey provides most of the materials - you just need to bring cotton fabric (two strips, each 5" by 12") and thread, needles and pins.
If you'd like to RSVP for this class, please click here
Time: 1:00-3:30pm
Date: Sat, April 30
Where: Wildcard
Cost: $24 per person; $17 for PCC members
