Public Campgrounds - Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Leavenworth Ranger District
Seven Forest Service campgrounds lie along the Icicle Creek Road a few miles south and west of Leavenworth. All sites require a fee and are operated by concessionaires under permits issued by the Forest Service. Access is on a first-come, first-serve basis. These are popular campsites during the summer and usually are full on weekends.
Icicle Creek Road is at the west end of Leavenworth and intersects US Highway 2. Miles shown to each of the campgrounds is the number of miles up Icicle River Road from where it intersects with US Highway 2 at the west side of town.
Blackpine Horse Camp. Located 19 miles up Icicle Creek Road along the Blackpine Creek. 10 single sites, RV's up to 60 feet long, water via solar pump, vault toilet and access to trails. Elevation 3,000 feet. GPS: 47.6091; -120.945.
Bridge Creek: Located 9 miles from Leavenworth near the confluence of Bridge Creek and Icicle Creek. 6 single sites, 1 over 55 years old group site, RV's ups to 19 feet long, potable water and 1 vault toilet. Elevation 1,900 feet. GPS: 47.5639; -120.782.
Chatter Creek. Located 16 miles up Icicle Creek Road. 12 single sites with 1 over 55 years old group site (up to 45 people), potable water and 1 vault toilet. No paved drives at this campground, thus it is a bit more rustic. Elevation 2,800 feet. GPS: 47.6083; -120.886.
Eight Mile: Located 8 miles from Leavenworth along Icicle Creek. 41 single sites, 4 double sites, 1 group site, RV's up to 50 feet long, potable water and 3 vault toilets. Elevation 1,800 feet. GPS: 47.5508; -120.768.
Ida Creek. Located 13 miles from Leavenworth at the confluence of Ida Creek and Icicle Creek. (Campground sits right beside Icicle Creek). 10 single sites with RV's up to 30 feet long, potable water and 2 vault toilets. Elevation 2,500 feet. GPS: 47.6068; -120.848.
Johnny Creek. Located 12 to 13 miles from Leavenworth near the confluence of Johnny Creek and Icicle Creek. This is the largest of the campgrounds along Icicle Creek and has 56 single sites, 9 double sites and accommodates RV's up to 50 feet long, situated in two sections; an Upper Johnny Creek and a Lower Johnny Creek. The upper section is across the road from the Creek and has the most sites. The lower section sits right on the creek, but has fewer sites. Some sites specify a minimum of two vehicles with a maximum of 5 vehicles. Potable water and 3 vault toilets. Elevation 2,300 feet. GPS: 47.5982; -120.817.
Rock Island. Located 17 miles up Icicle Creek Road. 20 single sites, 2 double sites, potable water and 5 vault toilets. Elevation 2,900 feet. GPS: 47.6084; -120.918.
