About

Established in 2007, Friar Forecast has been committed to providing informative analysis on the San Diego Padres and the game of baseball.

Our goal is to create an interesting and entertaining outlet to discuss the Padres. We thank you for your support and hope you continue to join us on our digital pages.

Meet the authors

Myron Logan created Friar Forecast way back in 2007, and he is more surprised than you that it is still around today. Myron enjoys analyzing the Padres using sabermetrics. His favorite current player is Cameron Maybin (get that extension done!). Myron also writes at The Hardball Times.

Daniel Gettinger has been a Padres fan for as long as he can remember. He is particularly fond of the mediocre Padres of the past, guys like Archi Cianfrocco, Deivi Cruz, and Jason Szuminski, for example. Away from the obscurity of cyberspace, Daniel works as a high school math teacher in Los Angeles.

Ben Davey has been a Padres fan since 1996, when he went to his first Padres game and saw then third basemen Ken Caminiti throw out a hitter from his rear. It was love at first pitch. Ben has been devotedly following the Padres farm system since 2004, when he started covering the minors for the ESPN Padres message board (username: Padman42). Ben also contributes to MadFriars. He watches or listens to around 80 minor league games a year, and loves talking prospects and the future of the Padres. Ben got his BS in Biochemistry from UCSD in 2009 and is currently a high school science teacher.

Chris Kelly

Hello Friar Faithful! I’m Chris Kelly, and I’ve been a Padres fan since their World Series run in 1984 (loved the unis). I grew up playing baseball and was fortunate enough to get a partial scholarship to play in college. Unfortunately, that’s where my dream to play professionally came to an end. I graduated with a B.A. in English and Psychology, and several years later I went back for my M.A. in Secondary Education. Currently, I teach 8th grade Language Arts and a Sports Journalism class in the summers. I’m fortunate to write for three sites: Padres Pulpit (mine), Chicken Friars, and here at Friar Forecast. My amazing wife and I have two children: 2 1/2 year-old-girl and a 6-month old son. Go Padres!

Scott Tanderup

Born and raised in the great state of Nebraska. Go Big Red!! I have lived in the San Diego/Escondido area for about 12 years now. I am a diehard Padre, Husker, Chargers, Suns, and Boston Bruins fan. All over the map I guess. I follow the Padres system as though it were a religion.
