Blog Action Day is Oct. 15. In 2010, the cause is water. Around the nation and the world, bloggers will be taking action on their blogs. Almost a billion people on the planet don’t have access to clean, safe drinking water, according to Blog Action Day’s website.

spacer Many right here in Atlanta, many experience this problem too. A new Fernbank Museum exhibit encourages people to reconsider how they view and use water. “Water: H2O=Life” stresses that water is a life-giving, but finite, resource. This interactive experience runs from Saturday through January 9, 2011.

Already, some bloggers in Atlanta are doing their part for this important cause. Here is some of the best of what our city has to say about water so far:

1. Sare Speert runs her own photography blog. Creative Loafing named it the Best Local Visual Arts Website/Blog in 2007 and 2008. Recalling the drought in Atlanta a few years ago, she makes a very important point:

I remember being so conscious about unnecessary running water, like letting the water run as I brushed my teeth or washed dishes, and it seems that now that we are no longer in a drought that no one is talking about the need for conscious water use anymore.

2. Karen Commins is a professional female voice-over talent with her own soundproof studio in Atlanta, GA. On her blog, she admits that she takes advantage of water. She presents some extremely interesting info, keep in mind though she does say some people may consider it “a bunch of New Age woo-woo.” Whatever you think about the research she presents, her point that words can make a difference is worth remembering today.

3. Fairegarden is a garden blog that has one “Garden Blog of the Year.” With stunning, colorful photos this blog presents a multitude of beautiful flowers in detail. At Fairegarden, the flowers have made them aware of the precious commodity of water all the time.

If you know of any others in Atlanta who are participating this year, post their blogs in the comments.
