7 Habits of Highly Annoying Network Marketers

As more and more network marketers turn to social media as a means to promote their business, certain habits have emerged that help deliniate the professionals from the newbies. While everyone ultimately has the goal of attracting others into their business, some folks just can't avoid being incredibly annoying about it. Chances are, if you use social media to promote your business, you have encountered most of these tactics. You may have even been guilty of doing these things yourself.

After being personally annoyed by thousands of ineffective network marketers, I consider myself a quasi-expert on the topic. Now I don't pretend to be the Stephen Covey of Facebook, but I have identified 7 habits of highly annoying networkers. If your objective is to turn people off, just do these things consistently and watch your business go nowhere.

Habit 1 - Constantly Post Ads For Your Business As Your Facebook Status. People join people - not companies. If you absolutely must post a blatant advertisement, try to keep it to once a day. And don't be afraid to mix in a little value or humor in your status updates.

Habit 2 - Welcome New "Friends" By Posting Your Opportunity On Their Wall. Respect the personal space of others. Nobody is going to accept your friend request, see that you posted your link on their wall, decide that you are a great leader, and immediately join your business. Let the game come to you.

Habit 3 - Invite Your Entire Friend List To A Webinar "Event" So You Can Spam Them With Messages. If you have a group page or fan page, message away. But if you are inviting all 3187 of your "friends" to a recorded webinar, don't fill up their inboxes with pointless reminder messages. And don't thank people for attending that never even responded to the invitation. SPAM.

Habit 4 - Tag People In Videos That Have Nothing To Do With Your Video Or Business. Video marketing is a really cool way to brand yourself and attract people to your business. Tagging people will definitely get your video more exposure. If someone is not in the video, mentioned in the video, in your business, or doesn't even know you - don't tag them. That's just rude.

Habit 5 - See Habit #1 And Make The Ad The Same One That Everyone Else In Your Opportunity Keeps Posting. Seriously, people. Do you realize how easy it is to change the message now and then? This becomes increasingly annoying when mulitple people are posting the exact same advertisement multiple times a day. Stop.

Habit 6 - Make Ludicrous Income Claims Based On The Top-Side Potential Of Your Comp Plan. Nothing turns people off to network marketing more than amazing, guaranteed income claims. The "Get Rich Quick" pitch is just sad. And if someone is interested in joining your opportunity, they will ask you how much money you are making in the business - not what the best case scenario is. So don't make your status update a promise of turning $20 into $20K guaranteed per month residual. Nobody believes that.

Habit 7 - Promote Multiple Free or $25 "Opportunities" With Wild Abandon. Pick a business, promote it, and stick with it. Hell, pick 2 businesses. But stop jumping on the next big thing and repeating the previous 6 steps. Not only are you advertising your inability to focus, you are bringing into question any of the success you claimed to have achieved at the other ground breaking opportunities you were spamming our newsfeeds with last month.

And if you can't think of anything clever or value packed to post on Facebook, just go find an inspirational quote of some sort. But try to find one that hasn't already been posted a million times. That's pretty annoying, too.
